The highlight here is undoubtedly the Sunday roast. Diners consistently praise the generous portions, perfectly cooked meats, and robust flavors that show care and skill in preparation. The slow-cooked beef roast, seasoned just right, melts in your mouth, offering a true taste of British culinary heritage. Vegan options are thoughtfully accommodated, reflecting the kitchen’s flexibility and consideration for all palates.
Beyond the roast, the menu boasts an impressive range of dishes like the spinach and mushroom lasagne—celebrated as one of the finest vegetarian offerings in the area—and classic fish and chips that deliver on crispy, golden satisfaction. Each plate arrives piping hot, showcasing balanced seasoning and hearty portions that provide excellent value for money.
Complementing the solid food choices is a fine selection of local ales and spirits, including the beloved Cornish Smugglers rum. This extensive drink list pairs beautifully with the food and creates a complete pub experience free of tourist gimmicks. Whether you’re there to savor a meal or just unwind with a pint, The Union Inn caters with friendly, efficient service and genuine hospitality.
What truly sets The Union Inn apart is its ability to blend an old-school pub vibe with great food and attentive staff. The lively yet comfortable environment, combined with the dog-friendly policy, makes it a welcoming spot for all. Despite its popularity and the absence of a booking system, the patience of waiting with a refreshing drink is well rewarded with mouthwatering dishes and a memorable communal spirit.
In sum, The Union Inn captures the heart of traditional British dining—reliable, flavorsome, and unpretentious—with a personal touch that encourages repeat visits. It’s a culinary gem in Saint Ives where you come for the food but stay for the genuine warmth.

“ We went for Sunday lunch and it was very good. Large portion, hot, and tasted amazing, service by the ladies was on point, friendly and warm welcome. We will definitely go back again during our stay, make sure you go. They don't take bookings so I'd it's full have a pint and wait, you'll be glad you did. Proper old school pub, we loved it! ”

“ Stopped here to keep out of the pouring rain, and to use the toilets. The staff were friendly, and accommodating - it was really busy but they still gave us a table despite us not ordering food. I had Cornish Smugglers rum and lemonade - it was gorgeous! There's a great selection of local beer and spirits and having checked out the food menu, and seeing the hearty plates leaving the kitchen, would definitely come back for a meal. Great traditional pub, serving traditional food and drinks, highly recommended. ”
